Established in 1910 and operated by the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME), the Museo Popoli e Culture preserves an extensive anthropological and artistic collection gathered by Catholic missionaries stationed worldwide. Completely renovated in 2019 into an engaging, multimedia-oriented cultural center, the museum places strong emphasis on intercultural dialogue, empathy, and the diverse philosophies and spiritual traditions of Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas.

  • Prominently highlights East, South, and Southeast Asian cultures with collections featuring Chinese ceramics, embroidered imperial robes, and Qing dynasty decorative arts; Japanese Buddhist iconography and domestic utensils; Indian bronze and stone statues; and an array of Southeast Asian ritual artifacts, textiles, musical instruments, and marionettes from Myanmar, Cambodia, and the Philippines.
