Nestled deep within the forested mountains of Shigaraki, the Miho Museum was founded by Mihoko Koyama and designed by famed architect I. M. Pei. Inspired by the Chinese classic The Peach Blossom Spring, over 80% of the museum structure is built underground to preserve the natural mountain landscape, creating a harmonious dialogue between modern architecture, nature, and ancient spiritual heritage.
