In Echoes of the Flesh, body and sound become vessels of memory.
Painter ioi Choi and musician To Van Kao meet in a shared space of movement and resonance, exploring what it means to inhabit the traces of what once was. ioi Choi’s practice unfolds between motion and material, presence and disappearance. Her body, both instrument and archive, becomes the medium through which space and time converse. Each gesture leaves a residue of emotion, suspended between form and release.
Through this physical dialogue, she creates a universe where painting transcends the surface, becoming performance, embodiment and conversation. Facing her, Vietnamese musician and sound artist To Van Kao performs Lost Lullaby, an avantgarde composition born from a forgotten song her father once sang. Blending electronic textures with the haunting tones of the đàn bầu, Vietnam’s one-string instrument, she traces a landscape of loss, remembrance and renewal. Sound becomes memory and memory becomes sound.

Curated by Art + Matter, an art branding consultancy founded by Cindy X. Nguyen, Echoes of the Flesh continues the studio’s commitment to cross-disciplinary storytelling that connects art, identity and emotion. Presented in collaboration with AWAN, Galerie Hoang Beli, Asian Art Bridge and Banh Mi Media, the performance builds on a shared dedication to championing diverse contemporary voices and Asian diaspora artists.

Through art, sound, and embodiment, the performance invites audiences to experience what remains after memory fades: the quiet echo of what it means to exist, to move and to remember.
